사람들,
나는 사람들의 ‘숲’에서 살고 있다.

그 사람의 분위기, 그때의 느낌, 그 순간의 기분과 상태를 느끼는 것. 이게 내 작업의 시작이 자 끝이다.
인물에서 가장 중요하게 다루어지는 ‘얼굴의 표정’에서 ‘디테일’은 사라진다.
‘그리기’, ‘지우기’를 몇 번 반복하다 보면 인물들은 흐릿한 ‘기미’의 형상으로 화면을 겨우 버 티고 섰다. 인물들의 가벼운 제스처 만으로 형태를 세우고, 그 위에 색을 입히면 화면은 온전 해진다.
히미하게 어렴풋히, 비로서 ‘흐릿해’ 보이는 사람들에게서 각각의 인물들은 오히려 ‘명료하게’ 보이기 시작한다.

People,
My life lies in a forest of people.

The one’ atmosphere, the time’s emotion, and the moment’ feeling and condition… Those are the end and beginning of my works.
The detailed expression of faces that used to be a crucial part of a portrait is fainted away.
When the “drawing” and “erasing” are repeated and repeated, the figures are barely standing on a canvas with a vague shadow.
Then, remains is a light gesture of a figure that becomes a rather clear reality and fills the canvas with colors of integrity.
